Liverpool has agreed to acquire 30-year-old Japanese defensive midfielder Wataru Endo from VfB Stuttgart for a transfer fee of €19m (£15.4m). Endo played in 33 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart in the previous season and has been on Liverpool's radar as they aim to reinforce their midfield. Endo is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Thursday.

Liverpool's interest in Endo follows the signings of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister from RB Leipzig and Brighton, respectively. The club has been in discussions with Stuttgart in recent days, and the deal has progressed rapidly, with the reported price tag.

Signing Endo will give Liverpool much-needed depth in midfield, especially in the defensive midfield position. The Japanese international is recognized for his impressive tackling skills and his ability to disrupt opposition attacks.

Liverpool supporters may be hoping that Endo will have an instant impact at Anfield and aid the club's efforts in competing for the Premier League title this season. The club has already begun the season strongly by winning their first two matches against Norwich City and Burnley.
