Ohio State tight end Bennett Christian has been suspended for the 2023 season after testing positive for a banned substance.
The redshirt freshman tight end Bennett Christian from Ohio State has been suspended for the entire 2023 season after testing positive for a banned substance. On Monday, August 14, 2023, the head coach Ryan Day announced the suspension.
Bennett Christian, a former four-star recruit in the Class of 2022, took full responsibility for the mishap and issued a statement expressing his regret for letting his team down. Although he is ineligible to play this season, he eagerly anticipates rejoining Ohio State in 2024.
Christian's inability to contribute to the team's offense this season is a huge loss for the Buckeyes. As a true freshman, he caught 10 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, playing in all 13 games last year.
Ohio State's first game of the 2023 season is scheduled for September 2 against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
