Parenting YouTuber Ruby Franke Arrested on Suspicion of Child Abuse
Post on .
Ruby Franke, a Utah-based parenting advisor on YouTube, has been arrested for suspicion of aggravated child abuse following her malnourished son's escape out a window and subsequent run to a nearby house for help. While Franke, who was once a renowned YouTuber, had given online parenting advice to her followers,
authorities found that her son was malnourished and had been sleeping on a beanbag for seven months. Franke and her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated child abuse when the child was discovered after escaping through a window and seeking help from a neighbor.
Franke previously denied any allegations of child abuse after a video of her daughter's meal went viral. In the video, Franke's daughter was observed eating a small amount of food, raising concerns about her health. Franke, however, stated that her daughter was a picky eater and denied any wrongdoing.
The arrest of Franke has raised concerns about the influence of social media on parenting and the responsibility of influencers to provide accurate and safe advice. Franke's case emphasizes the need to be alert regarding advice from social media influencers, especially when related to children's safety and well-being.
Franke and Hildebrandt currently remain in custody, and the investigation is ongoing. The child has been placed in protective custody.
